and on budget launch

To compete in parcels, the client needed more than a physical network. It needed a shipment platform that could connect shippers, generate compliant labels, capture parcel data, support tracking and give operations teams visibility across the service.

NetDespatch partnered with the client to design, launch and operate the parcel technology layer behind the proposition, enabling the organisation to move from market ambition to live parcel operations.

The idea

Turn a postal network into a parcel proposition by adding the digital layer needed to connect customers, labels, data, tracking and operations.

Key outcomes

A new digital foundation for B2C packets and parcels.

Velocity provided the operating layer needed to connect customer despatch, labels, parcel data, tracking and courier delivery across the new service.

A platform capable of supporting customer returns.

A digital foundation for B2C packets and parcels market development.

Launched on time and on budget.

The challenge

Turning a postal network into a parcel proposition.

The client was moving into packets and parcels from a postal background, expanding beyond letters and mail consolidation into B2C parcel services for retailers and shippers.

Unlike mail workflows, parcels required item-level visibility, customer and supplier integration, and operational control from despatch through to courier delivery.

The platform therefore had to do more than support booking and label production. It needed to connect customer despatch activity with courier delivery processes, provide reliable parcel tracking and operational data, and support entry into a more digitally demanding delivery market.

Connecting the parcel operation

One web-based platform linking customer despatch, parcel data, labels, tracking and courier delivery across the new packets and parcels service.

The solution

From postal ambition to operational parcel capability.

Using the NetDespatch innovation lifecycle, the move into packets and parcels was progressed from market opportunity through to a live, web-based parcel operation with customer tools, tracking and operational control.
